What you need to know before applying for a Dubai visa

Iraqi passport holders need a visa before travelling to the UAE. The Dubai and UAE visa from Safrat covers all seven Emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Not just Dubai, even though that is the name most people know it by.

The visa carries a 30-day stay, is valid for 60 days from the issue date, is single entry, and is issued in 4 working days.

The price depends on each traveller's age

This is the only visa we offer where the price changes with age. There are two bands:

  • Travellers aged 15 and over
  • Children under 15

Enter each traveller's date of birth and the correct price applies automatically. You do not need to pick a different plan for children or submit a separate application — everyone goes in the same order with the same documents, and the total is shown before you pay.

Current prices are shown on the cards above.

Validity and stay — what the difference actually means

The visa is valid for 60 days from the issue date. You have two months to enter the UAE, after which the visa expires even if you never used it.

The 30-day stay starts from your actual entry, not from the issue date.

And the visa is single entry. Leave the UAE and it is spent. Any new entry means a new application.

The six documents required

The Dubai visa asks for more documents than any of our other destinations. Here is the full list:

  • Passport — a clear scan of the first page with at least 6 months of validity
  • Passport cover — a photo of the outside front, showing the country name and emblem
  • Personal photo — colour, plain white background, face centred and evenly lit
  • National ID — clear scans of both sides, front and back are both required
  • Flight ticket — showing both the outbound and return legs
  • Hotel voucher — showing the address of where you will stay in the UAE

Why a scan of the passport cover is required

We get this question often. The UAE authority requires a photo of the outside cover as a separate document from the photo page inside.

So you need two images of your passport: one of the cover from outside, and one of the first page from inside. Most other destinations only ask for the first page.

Processing time

4 working days. The submission day is not counted, Friday and Saturday are not counted, and the clock starts once your documents are complete.

With six documents, the chance that one is missing or unclear is higher than for our other destinations. Get them all ready before you start the application.

We suggest applying at least a week before you travel.

One last thing

The fee is non-refundable in case of rejection, or if the visa is issued and you do not travel.

Overstay penalties are calculated from the very first day of overstay and are payable before departure. Count your departure date from your actual entry, not from the visa issue date.

That is why the Safrat team reviews your documents before submission. With six documents, a review beforehand makes a real difference.

Frequently asked questions

Do Iraqi citizens need a visa for Dubai and the UAE?

Yes. Iraqi passport holders need a visa before travelling to the UAE. You can apply online through Safrat.

Does the visa cover only Dubai or the whole UAE?

The visa covers entry to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the rest of the United Arab Emirates — not just Dubai.

Why does the price differ between travellers?

The price follows each traveller's age: $84 for travellers aged 15 and over, and $48 for children under 15. Enter each traveller's date of birth and the correct price applies automatically, with no separate plan to choose.

How much does a Dubai visa cost for Iraqis?

$84 for adults aged 15 and over and $48 for children under 15. Prices include government and service fees with nothing added at checkout.

How long does a Dubai visa take to process?

4 working days. The submission day and the Friday and Saturday holidays are not counted, and the clock starts once your documents are complete.

How long is a UAE visa valid and how long can I stay?

The visa is valid for 60 days from the issue date — you must enter the UAE within that window. The permitted stay is 30 days, counted from your actual entry rather than the issue date.

Is the UAE visa single entry or multiple entry?

Single entry only. Once you leave the UAE the visa is void, and any new entry requires a new application.

What documents are required for a Dubai visa?

Six documents: the passport's first page, the passport cover, a photo with a white background, both sides of your national ID, your flight ticket, and your hotel voucher.

Why is a scan of the passport cover required?

The UAE authority requires a photo of the outside front cover of the passport — the side showing the country name and emblem — as a separate document from the photo page inside.

What happens if I overstay?

Overstay penalties are calculated from the very first day of overstay and are payable before departure. Count your departure date from your actual entry, not from the visa issue date.
