What an eSIM actually is
An eSIM is a mobile data plan delivered as a QR code instead of a plastic card. Your phone stores it alongside the SIM already in it, which means you keep your Iraqi number for calls and messages while the data comes from a local network at your destination.
Nothing is shipped and nothing is swapped at the airport. You buy the plan here, scan the code once, and the connection is waiting for you when the plane lands.
Why travellers use one
Roaming on an Iraqi line abroad is charged by the megabyte, and a week of maps, messaging and boarding passes adds up to more than the trip's taxi budget. A local plan avoids that, but it means queuing at an arrivals counter, handing over a passport, and giving up your own number for the week.
An eSIM is the third option: a local rate without the queue, bought before departure at a price you can see in advance.
How buying one works here
Choose the country you are travelling to and compare the plans side by side — each one shows its data allowance, how many days it is valid for, and the price in US dollars. Tell us the phone you will install it on, so we can check it before you pay rather than after.
Payment is the same checkout you already use for flights and hotels. The QR code appears on the order page as soon as the payment clears, and a copy goes to your email.
After you arrive
The validity period starts the first time the eSIM connects in the destination country, not on the day you bought it. Your remaining data is on the order page, and if it runs low you can top the same eSIM up without installing anything again.
Questions people ask before buying
Will an eSIM work on my phone?
Most phones released after 2018 support eSIM — iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models, Google Pixel 3 and newer. The phone also has to be carrier-unlocked.
We check the model you tell us at checkout and warn you before you pay if it is not on the supported list.
Do I lose my Iraqi number?
No. The eSIM is added beside your physical SIM, so your number stays in the phone for calls and SMS while the eSIM carries the data.
Turn data roaming off on the physical line before you travel, so your operator cannot bill you for anything.
When does the plan start counting?
The validity period starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in the destination country — not when you buy it. You can install it days before you travel and it will still begin on arrival.
How do I install it?
After payment you get a QR code on the order page and by email. Scan it from your phone's mobile-data settings while on Wi-Fi and the profile installs in under a minute.
Keep the code until the trip is over: it can only be installed once.
What if I run out of data?
Top the same eSIM up from your orders page — no new installation, as long as the plan is still inside its validity period. Your usage is on the same page and refreshes roughly every twenty minutes.
Can I get a refund?
An eSIM that has not been installed can be refunded. Once the QR code has been scanned the plan sits with the operator and cannot be returned — which is why the compatibility check comes before payment, not after.
